Jyotiben Dalal Disabled Women Empowerment Project, Bhavnagar, India

Disabled women in rural areas face many difficulties when it comes to education, professional training, and earning a livelihood. They are considered a liability to society and live in miserable conditions.

In an effort to improve their precarious conditions, develop confidence and make them economically independent, The Dalal Family Foundation is supporting the Disabled Women Empowerment Project (Jyotiben Dalal Viklang Mahila Sashaktikaran Yojna) under which these women get trained in sewing, beauty parlor treatments and computers. Financing is given to these women for the purchase of sewing machines and beauty parlor kits, thereby making it convenient to start a small business.
